Well, we made it, a few days ago actually. I just haven't had the time, nor the internet to put up a new post. I'd like to update daily, but unfortunately, the internet isn't complimentary at our hotel.
Anyhow, we ended up crashing for the night in Cordes Junction, about an hour out from Phoenix. We got up a little later than normal, having finally been hit with some jet lag. It probably didn't help that it rained that night, which was obviously very soothing. However, soothing would not be how I would describe the sopping wet floor in the morning. Apparently, the motel sits in a little bit of a valley, and it doesn't take much of a rain, for the puddles to flood the rooms. Eh, I'm making it out worse than it was.
Shortly after getting on the road, we noticed a "scenic view", and rest stop. Figured, we didn't have anything else to do, and only had maybe another half hour to get into town. So we stopped.
It was definitely worth stopping for. Probably my favorite spot on my trip yet. Came into Phoenix, which was hardly as impressive as any of the other major cities...None the less, I was excited to be closer to our new home for the next two weeks. That and, well, a car on the highway passed us, with two good looking women, in it, and they waved... Maybe they were just friendly Arizonians?
The first stop we made in Chandler, was to our new job site, Checker's Auto Parts. Apparently, they're kind of a big deal down here. It's pretty much the equivalent of a Napa Auto Parts in Michigan. Anyway, we made our way around town, finding our bearings, seeing what Chandler had to offer... Next, and most importantly, we had to find where we were rooming for the next ten days. After far too many phone calls, and a bit of disappointment, we finally found the best deal in the area at a Red Roof Inn. No amenities, no continental breakfast, no free internet... But, there is a heated pool, and our room just so happens to be the closest to it. Plus, its the cheapest hotel, within thirty miles of Checker's, and at that point we would be spending the difference in fueling our truck. It'll do though...
Anyway, I'll have more to share later about my stay so far. Until then...
